Raise a glass to this. New study has revealed that if you want to live past 90 years old, drink a couple of glasses a night.
Cheers to longevity
Making it past 90 might mean downing a couple drinks a night. The 90+ Study found that people who drank two glasses of alcohol a day improved their odds of living longer than those who abstained by 18%.
Dr. Claudia Kawas, a neurology specialist and head of the 90+ Study, presented her findings at the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s annual conference in Austin, Texas, on Feb. 17.
“I have no explanation for it, but I do firmly believe that modest drinking improves longevity,” Kawas said.
They also found that exercising regularly and taking up a hobby for two hours a day was also key. People who were overweight, but not obese, lived longer than normal or underweight people did.
“It’s not bad to be skinny when you’re young, but it’s very bad to be skinny when you’re old,” Kawas said at the meeting.
