This month we spin tracks from Leven Kali featuring Syd, Chvrches The National, and The Cranberries
Do U Wrong – Leven Kali feat. Syd
It’s always a joy to listen to Odd Future’s Syd sing. When I heard she teamed up with newcomer, Leven Kali, I needed to give it a listen. The track suits Syd’s stunning soulful voice amazingly. And Leven is an upcoming singer/songwriter. He’s a pup at only 20 years old. Many more years ahead for this kid.
Get Out – Chvrches
The Scottish trio have dropped their first new single in two years. The track is produced by Greg Kurstin, recently named Grammy’s Producer of the Year. That’s for the second year in a row, by the way.
Walk it Back – The National
The National’s latest track has a political slant in the video. It dropped on the one-year anniversary of Donald Trump’s inauguration, and features extreme closeups of politicians and other government-related imagery. “The video documents the performance and spectacle of governance,” said director Casey Reas.
Drams – The Cranberries
I’d be lying if I said that I haven’t predominantly listened to The Cranberries since we lost Dolores. I listen to her mainly at night, before going to bed. Her songs still motivate me and move me. When she was with us, she was part of my regular soundtrack. In death, she continues to be. Maybe even more. What a remarkable voice she had.
