Royal Rumble 2018 Predictions

WWE’s second most anticipated PPV of the year goes down Sunday. Here are five predictions for this Royal Rumble 2018

30-Man Over-The-Top Royal Rumble Match

I don’t know about this one. And unlike the last few years, this years winner isn’t predictable. If I get to be armchair booker for a moment, I think it’d go this way. Shinsuke Nakamura takes it and challenges AJ Styles at Wrestlemania 34 for the Smackdown Live championship. This would be a rematch that NJPW fans have been wanting to see. There’s also a chance that Cena takes it, but doubtful if they still want to have Cena and Taker on the grandest stage of them all.

Winner:  Shinsuke Nakamura

30-Woman Over-The-Top Royal Rumble Match

Asuka and Nia Jax are the favourites. And one of these women will take the honour as being the first woman to win the first Women’s Royal Rumble. I say Asuka will take it and then challenge Charlotte for the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship. That’s a dream match for Wrestlemania 34.

Winner: Asuka

WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn — 2-on-1 Handicap Match for the WWE Title

This is the match I’m looking forward to the most. Owens and Zayne have worked masterfully entertaining us Tuesday nights. Both being classic heels. They’ve caused plenty of headaches for Shane McMahon and hurt the relationship between him and Daniel Bryan. The match, while easy to call, should have the champ retaining. The dastardly duo will get heat at the beginning until AJ makes his comeback. However, it’s the ego of Owen and Zayne  that will make them lose. Each one will want to be the one that pins the champion. They will argue until AJ scores the victory. There’s also a chance of outside interference. Daniel and Shane might come down. All I know is this – Shane’s eventually turning heel on Daniel and setting up a match against him at ‘Mania 34.

Winner: AJ Styles

Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman vs. Kane

There’s a reason why Kane is there, and that’s to take the pin. He’s a politician and not staying around for too much longer. Therefore, we’re actually looking at either Braun Strowman or Brock Lesner winning. And I say Lesner. The match will mainly consist of big guy Braun wrecking everything in his way – mainly a big red monster,  Kane and Brock may tag team to get the big guy down then Brock takes Kane for the finish. If it were my way, I’d give Braun the belt, at least to the next PPV. But that’s just me.

Winner: Brock Lesner

Raw Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan vs. Cesaro & Sheamus

The reason of this pairing was to give Jason Jordan a rub, and it has worked. Now, it’s time for the kid to go solo. Expect the awkward paring to break-up after the youngster costs Seth Rollins the championships. Daddy Kurt will book his son in the following PPV to face Rollings to end their interaction.

Winners: Cesaro and Sheamus

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos vs. Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin (2-out-of-3-Falls Match)

This one could be the contender for match of the night. This is if they get enough time. The match is best-out-of-three, so I predict Gable and Benjamin going over the first fall. The Usos take the second, then ultimately winning the last fall in a close match. This feud can go a few more miles, till The Usos face their next challengers – The Bludgeon Brothers.

Winners: The Usos
